Delivering Reliable Energy and Economic Benefits to Navajo County

The Pegasus Energy Project is a proposed 500-megawatt (MW) solar project providing reliable energy to meet peak power needs. The project will bring significant long-term economic benefits to the county, create local jobs, and increase investments in local schools and county services. Construction is expected to start late 2026 and be operational by 2028.

The project will interconnect into the Coronado-Silver King 500kv line via a 5.7-mile gen-tie line. An application will be filed with the Arizona Power Plant and Transmission Line Siting Committee for a Certificate of Environmental Compatibility (CEC) in September 2026 for the Pegasus Interconnection Project (Gen-Tie Project).

Project Location

The Pegasus Energy Project is located on approximately 2,645 acres of privately owned land about 15 miles northwest of the town of Snowflake in Navajo County.

Local Economic Benefits

The Pegasus Energy Project will generate ~$25M in tax payments to Navajo County over the project’s 35-year operational life. During construction, the project will create ~500 jobs at peak construction and up to 5 long-term jobs for project operations.

The Pegasus project will provide the County with a Community Benefit Payment to offset impacts and support the county’s comprehensive plan. The project will also provide significant long-term tax revenue, family-wage jobs, increased funding for the local school system and improved county services for 35 years.

Community Engagement and Responsible
Development, Construction and Operations

Responsible Development

The Pegasus team members are committed to responsible development, construction and operations over the project-life time:

  • Once operational, the project will be a passive use of the land
  • Land will be stabilized and re-seeded, allowing the land to regenerate and the soils to rest
  • Solar panels emit minimal noise with no emissions

Environmental protection measures to minimize impact include:

  • Wildlife and livestock movement corridors
  • Wildlife friendly fencing with a 6-8” gap at the bottom to allow for movement
  • Native vegetation and/or pollinator species

Community Engagement

We arrive in the community to build and work for decades to come. A stakeholder-first approach is essential for us. Developing meaningful relationships with local organizations, schools, and community members to understand the community’s priorities alongside ours is key for everyone’s success.

We are committed to collaborating with community members to identify areas that will bring the most benefit to residents of Navajo County.
